PYP Art at BIFS
The PYP recognizes that not all learning can be supported solely through language, and Visual Art as a medium of inquiry also provides opportunities for learning, communication and expression. Learning about and through Visual Art is fundamental to the development of the whole child, promoting creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills and social interactions.
At BIFS, Visual Art follows the framework of Creating Art and Responding to Art. Proper skills are taught around the knowledge of understanding the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. The student is immersed in the complete Art Studio experience from Kindergarten until they graduate Elementary School through the use of a fully equipped Art Room with projects ranging from drawing, painting to sculpture. At the end of each academic year, each student will bring home an Art Folio - a perfect tool to see the development of a child.
Visual Art in the Elementary is also a foundation for higher levels of Art when the student decides to do his or her International General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) or Diploma Programme (DP) in Visual Art.
